Setup Suggestion

Although our products are not vehicle specific, here are some tips to help with setup in selected vehicles

Test fit using a Garrett GT3071R on a 5AT CS1. This is directly applicable to automatic transmission variations of CP2, CU2, and CW2 chassis, and may be applicable to other chassis as basic dimensional estimation.

With a standard rotation turbocharger like the original GT3071R, the turbocharger can be mounted with the compressor housing facing either the passenger side or the driver side.

Reverse rotation turbochargers may change or limit clearance and mounting options.

Adapter - Internal wastegate

This option provides the most firewall clearance at the cost of lower clearance against the rear engine mount. As the rear engine mount mounting bracket does not move in relation to the turbocharger, the clearance is consistent regardless of load. In this particular test fit, as the compressor inlet sits over the rubber portion of the engine mount, solid rear engine mount may be required to prevent contact under load.

This may not be an issue for those using a physically smaller turbocharger with a smaller compressor housing and/or with a smaller inlet like the Garrett G30-660.

This option provides the most amount clearance against lower engine components. This option also leaves the space for the oil filter free on the block, allowing for the possibility of the RSX Type-S oil pump conversion. Clearance against the AC evaporator lines may become a concern if the engine mounts are in poor/failed condition.

The metal wiring bracket under the VTEC solenoid need to be removed to accommodate the compressor housing.

Adapter - External wastegate

This option provides the most firewall clearance at the cost of lower clearance against the rear engine mount. As the rear engine mount mounting bracket does not move in relation to the turbocharger, the clearance is consistent regardless of load. In this particular test fit, as the compressor inlet sits over the rubber portion of the engine mount, solid rear engine mount may be required to prevent contact under load.

This option also leaves the space for the oil filter free on the block, allowing for the possibility of the RSX Type-S oil pump conversion. With a GT3071R, the compressor housing contacts the AC evaporator lines. A smaller turbocharger with a smaller compressor housing like the Garrett G30-660 is required for this configuration.
